Boy Scouts Camp

The biggest challenge for any Boy Scouts building project is BUDGET! The Boy Scouts of America is a not-for-profit entity and is financially run through various fees, grants, income generating activities and events, and donations. A large number of boys and girls use these facilities all year round with the highest use during summer camp. Because of the limited amount of funds available, most of the building projects are designed pro-bono by architects and engineers. Once designed, projects are usually constructed through a mixture of professionally hired contractors as well as volunteers that are professional in their fields -- doing the work on their own time and using materials sometimes at their own expense. It’s exciting to work with adults that have a common goal of providing places where our youth can do wholesome, educational and recreational activities, safely, comfortably in outdoor settings. Extra care and vigilance has to be taken to insure that the projects are safe, built to code and will endure the test of time and loving abuse.

Dave Foster and other members of the Tecton Staff have been members in the Boy Scouts program, in varying capacities for many years. Whenever we are involved in working with,or teaching our youth through programs such as the Boy Scouts of America, work focused efforts such as the ACE Mentoring Program, or other similar programs, we expose our staff to the world of giving for the benefit of others. Through this program, we truly appreciate and enjoy seeing how we can directly influence the future leaders of our world.
