CT Forensic Lab

Groundbreaking for the Connecticut Department of Public Safety’s Division of Scientific Services Phase III Laboratory was held on Monday, October 27, 2008, in Meriden, Connecticut. The $8 million, 2-story facility designed by Tecton Architects, with MEP Engineering services by BVH Integrated Services, will include a Photo Imaging Laboratory, Toxicology Wet Laboratory, Work Stations, Offices and Storage within its 21,750 sq ft. The red brick and glass addition also will accommodate the Computer Crime and Electronic Evidence Laboratory, which has seen significant growth over the past eight years; the addition will provide forensic examiners and investigators the room needed to successfully complete their casework.

Under Master of Ceremonies, Lt. David E. Rice, C.O. of the Division of Scientific Services, speakers included The Honorable Raeanne, V. Curtis, Commissioner of the Department of Public Works, spoke on behalf of M. Jodi Rell, Governor of the State of Connecticut, followed by The Honorable John A. Danaher, III, Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety and The Honorable Dr. Henry C. Lee, Chief Emeritus of the Department of Public Safety. Following their remarks and the ceremonial groundbreaking, including performance by the Connecticut State Police Pipe and Drum Corps and Connecticut State Police Honor Guard, guests were invited to tour the Laboratory.
