Foodshare

In true Christmas spirit, Tecton opted to make a real difference to the greater community: in the names of our clients, consultants and friends, Dave, Dale and Ann presented a contribution to Foodshare’s President, Gloria McAdam. John Phillips-Sandy, Special Projects Coordinator, then invited them to tour the absolutely spotless, 30,000 sq ft warehouse, where Foodshare receives, processes and distributes a variety of produce, canned goods, and frozen foods.

Foodshare serves community kitchens, emergency shelters, food pantries and other anti-hunger programs in Hartford and Tolland Counties. While this area does not suffer a lack of food, Foodshare’s distribution system plays a very important role in making good, fresh food available to those who are under-served by grocery stores.

After speaking with the folks at Foodshare and seeing their extensive operation, we knew we’d made the right decision by donating to this outstanding organization. At Foodshare, nothing goes to waste -- there’s even a location where overripe and expired foods await pickup by a local pig farmer!
