Working with Trumpf US and its parent company in Stuttgart, Germany, Tecton designed the company’s new, 84,000 sq ft LITE (Laser Innovation & Technical Excellence) Center in Farmington, Connecticut. Tecton collaborated with Trumpf’s corporate architect, Barkow Leibinger Architects, in Berlin on the $28,000,000 Center, which includes a large Laser Assembly Hall with zones for R&D, assembly and final testing – all supported by a high-tech, below-grade infrastructure providing chilled process water, test power and industrial gases. Administrative offices, conference rooms, product display space and a staff cafeteria, along with a parts washing area, clean room, shipping & receiving areas and a central data facility complete this phase. Natural daylighting was introduced into the main assembly hall and preparations were made for future geothermal cooling systems.

Three lines of innovative industrial lasers will be developed and assembled in the new 2-story facility, with sophisticated “process-engineering systems” supporting the required extreme technological requirements.
