Hartford Job Corps Center

The new Hartford Job Corps Center consists of eight buildings located on the former Charter Oak Public Housing site in Hartford. Our master plan addressed the challenge of creating an exciting campus environment that fosters a sense of community for the 200 students who will seek training in marketable vocational/technical skills.

Based upon Department of Labor prototypes, the 91,000 SF center includes a new 136-bed dormitory with suite-style bed-rooms and an inviting common room for collaborative study and social events; classrooms and practical labs for heavy and light vocational training; a cafeteria/ teaching kitchen, childcare center and administration/medical spaces. A maintenance building was also designed and built on the site.

The design  was recognized by the Learning by Design Magazine Awards Program.
