Key to the success of the Art and Science Center is staff participation throughout the summer, including direct communications throughout the Design phase.

Across the Still River from the main campus, this is where many students spend a good portion of each day. The 32,000 sf brick building incorporates large, well placed, energy-efficient windows. Light-filled art studios and well-equipped science rooms, including one with a “super flat floor,” comprise the upper levels while bright open Atrium spaces with casual seating offer respite on the first.

A budget that was several years out of date, a fixed program, and creating a building architecture consistent with the character of its rural, Winsted, Connecticut, setting are among the challenges met by the project team. Tecton Architects, The Office of Michael Rosenfeld and BVH Integrated Services enjoy the benefits of influencing, through our architecture, the future leaders of our world.
