Middlesex Hospital Sterile Processing Department
Tecton redesigned Middlesex Hospital’s Sterile Processing Department under a phased construction plan to accommodate the department’s 24/7 operation. Re-orientation of the sterilization equipment and clean storage redirected flow for increased throughput operations and separated critical functions.
The project incorporated the relocation and addition of major equipment such as sterilizers, washers, a centralized bulk storage plus stainless steel counters and sinks. The primary cart washer was removed and a new pit constructed to provide a level surface. Vestibules were added at key entrance and exit locations to secure the department and to create security and infectious disease control measures.
