Middlesex Hospital Special Procedures Suite
The Special Procedures Suite at Middlesex Hospital was designed by Tecton Architects to accommodate the complex diagnostic and procedural technology required in contemporary medical facilities.
In this suite, innovative technology includes a flexible C-Arm x-ray system suspended from the ceiling gantry over the procedures table for on-site imaging of the patient during complicated procedures and immediate image display on adjustable ceiling-mounted monitors. Articulating surgical lights are also ceiling mounted, and additional diagnostic and monitoring systems are fitted into the procedure table.
An enclosed control room is incorporated into the space and houses advanced monitoring equipment, provides a clear view of the patient and offers protection to medical staff during the imaging process.
Tecton met the challenge of integrating this sophisticated 21st century equipment into a 1950’s structure through close collaboration and coordination with the hospital’s engineering professionals and medical equipment vendors.
