Chesapeake Joint Public Safety Training Center

Tecton is providing public safety facility design consultation services to RRMM Architects for the design of a Joint Public Safety Training Center in the city of Chesapeake VA. Tecton evaluated the curriculum of all three (fire/police/emergency response) agencies and the city’s human resources training program and determined the optimal number of shared and agency dedicated learning facilities to support training for in-service and recruit needs well into the future.
The education building includes classrooms, an auditorium, fitness center, a ropes gym, video production lab, media center, locker and dining facilities. The Fire Training area includes a burn building, flashover simulator, rubble pile, trench simulator, mayday tower, hazmat world, vehicle fire simulator, drafting pond, training tower, worm, SCBA maze and rope tower. Facilities shared among the three departments include a running track with agility course, driver training course, an EVOC pad and a water rescue training facility.
