Hartford’s Camp Courant is the largest free summer camp in the nation, with almost 1,200 children enjoy a fulfilling outdoor experience each day. The summer camp features educational, recreational and leadership programming for the city’s pre-school through middle school children. Tecton designed new post and beam pavilions to allow the camp to operate in all weather conditions, providing shade on hot, sunny days and shelter during rainstorms. The timbers were harvested from the site, and the new pavilions blend into the backdrop of white pine and mature oak trees. Additional renovations to the main building, pool, outdoor stage, and play areas help advance fun, recreational and educational experiences for Hartford’s children.
