A Welcoming, Multi-Generational Cultural Destination

Elmwood Community Center

The Town of West Hartford and Tecton Architects led an intensive, community-focused effort to rethink and reinvigorate the Elmwood Community Center. The conceptual plan placed the community center on a Town-owned property adjacent to West Hartford’s Beachland park, creating a connected campus for the Elmwood neighborhood . Tecton completed a comprehensive evaluation of the existing mid-century building on the site, a programmatic space needs assessment and preliminary concepts and estimates, all guided by the Town’s values, sustainability goals and community feedback. The study proposed a facility that incorporates community, senior and library programs in an enhanced environment that reflects the diversity and dynamic character of the West Hartford community.
