King Industries is a third generation, family-owned manufacturer of volatile Class 1A chemical additives that make the world’s highest quality coatings and lubricants perform under the toughest conditions. Their patented products are specialized and proprietary as are their customers, and their operations are extremely high-risk. The current plant campus in Norwalk, CT is bounded by recent urban residential development – an inherent risk King set-out to alleviate via a gradual but complete relocation for their business and manufacturing operations to an 11-acre brown field site in Waterbury. The phased new campus of 8 buildings includes a bulk chemical tanker offloading building, 4 liquid storage/processing plants, and a liquid warehouse each connected to the campus utility center with an overhead service and communication trellis. The Utility Center is complete and Truck Off-Load and Process #1 are under construction. The final phase will also include a new King Headquarters with visitor center and R&D laboratories.
