A "First Best Step" Toward Elementary Renewal

The renovation of Latimer Lane Elementary School was the first step of an overarching elementary renewal program for Simsbury’s public schools, born out of Tecton’s School Facilities Master Plan. The existing Latimer Lane School was “renovated as new,” with a refresh of all existing building components and additions totaling nearly 30,000 SF. The updated facility includes enhanced school safety and improved site circulation through dedicated parent and bus drop-off loops. The interior environment was strategically planned to consolidate shared core spaces at the center of the building and provide a separate entrance to allow for off-hours community use of the gym, cafeteria and stage areas. Central courtyards and secure, age-appropriate play areas provide opportunities for outdoor learning and environmental engagement.
