Tecton worked with the Town of West Springfield on a feasibility study and spatial needs assessment for the West Springfield Police Department. The space needs assessment is based upon an evaluation of the existing headquarters and interviews with senior staff members. Discussions included a review of the current space functions, potential future department growth, public safety facility design trends, staff demographic flexibility, provisions to facilitate community relations, and a review of appropriate security measures to be incorporated into the facility design. The space needs assessment identified a facility need of 37,700 square feet to support the current department staff. This includes prisoner processing and detention facilities, records, narcotics, criminal investigation, traffic, training, and dispatch spaces.
